Sigismond MONNET
Experimental Test Pilot Fixed Wing
Flight Test Instructor
EASA Examiner (FE, CRE, IRE, FIE)
FAA CFI, CFII, MEI
Sigismond Monnet was born in Switzerland in 1973 and started flying gliders at the age of 17. He pursued a career as a corporate pilot and as a military Qualified Flying Instructor (QFI) and test pilot. To date, he has accumulated more than 8,800 flight hours on a wide variety of military and civil fixed-wing aircraft (over 130 aircraft types, ranging from gliders to medium multi-engine jets and fighter aircraft), including 1,350 hours in experimental flight test, 2,900 hours as an instructor, and 1,200 hours on rotorcraft.
In addition to a strong flight test background, he has served as a military instructor B1 since 2012, teaching at all levels from undergraduate pilots to post-graduate experimental test pilots, flight test engineers and other test aircrew. He holds an EASA Flight Test Rating Category 1 with FTI privileges and graduated from EPNER in 2000.
Some of the major projects in which he has been involved as a test pilot include: performance and handling qualities evaluation for the Romanian CAA (RCAA) King Air 350 special missions aircraft; certification of LiDAR and photogrammetric equipment (STC) on King Air BE90 for INCAS (Romania); certification of Collins Pro Line 4 and TFE731-5BR on Falcon 20; certification of EGPWS and TCAS II on Falcon 20; flight envelope expansion of the PC-7 with underwing tanks; advanced spin testing of the PC-7 in dissymmetrical configurations; certification of the Pilatus PC12 with GTN 750/650 avionics and imaging, LiDAR and photogrammetric equipment (STC); and certification of avionics upgrades on the DHC-6 Twin Otter with dual Garmin G600 and Midcontinent Standby Attitude Module (SAM).
Sigismond was involved over a six-month period (Sep 2025 to Feb 2026) in operational flight test and evaluation activities within the Beta CX300 program (electric propulsion aircraft), contributing to the assessment of aircraft performance, handling qualities and operational limitations, with a specific focus on single-pilot IFR operations. His work supported the validation of operational concepts and procedures, as well as the alignment of the Flight Operating Manual (FOM), QRH and POH with real-world operational use within the Avinor (Norway), CAA(N) and Bristow Norway AS Test Arena.
Sigismond performed the inaugural flight of the GE Catalyst turboprop engine, which took place on 30 September 2021 at Berlin Airport on a King Air 350 flying test bed.
Sigismond holds EASA, FAA, ICAO San Marino and Transport Canada Airline Transport Pilot Licences, as well as commercial helicopter privileges. He is an Associate Fellow of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots and a Member of the Royal Aeronautical Society. Sigismond is fluent in French, English and German.
